Mission Statement
The I.B.E.W. Local 47 Hey SIS Women’s Committee is committed to increasing the participation
of women in every aspect of the union. Including Apprenticeship training, mentoring, leadership, and
involvement in union, community, and political activities. As Hey SIS Women's Committee members, we
will act professionally in our industry roles. We shall execute our duties both on and off the job in a
manner that promotes a positive image for the Women’s Committee and I.B.E.W. Local Union #47. We
will consistently encourage and support all women in the industry.
We, as a committee, strive to achieve the following:
Empower women to develop leadership skills and assume key roles in I.B.E.W. and their
communities.
To create a support network that facilitates the development of mentoring programs, both
formal and informal, that enhance leadership skills and promote equal opportunities.
To establish a secure environment for women to voice concerns and drive change by educating
and informing our industry on matters pertaining to gender equality, gender opportunities, and
gender discrimination.
To support the prevention of harassment, violence, discrimination, and exploitation in I.B.E.W.
union and workplaces.
To aid in the development of programs and educational resources aimed at enhancing our
members; understanding of diversity and inclusion.
To promote employment equity and the rights of all individuals, including civil, human, and
women's rights.
Encourage more women to join I.B.E.W. activities.
Collaborate with other standing committees, equity caucuses, and women’s organizations to
support their initiatives and events.
